The role of Tanker 1 is to support the primary attack engine by providing more than 2000 gallons of water. Alternately, the water can be emptied into the dump tank from one of three electric-operated valves, freeing the tanker to shuttle water from a nearby source. In this rural community with no municipal water supply or hydrants, the role of the tanker is vital to firefighting efforts. Tanker 1 also responds to area mutual aid calls where additional water supply is needed.
